As a by-product

Having a teenager reach a high level of proficiency and obtain a certificate that shows what they're capable of is a worthwhile objective. Personal achievement. Building relationships. Access to higher education. Employability. Empowerment.
Focused exam preparation with targeted exercises, vocabulary and exam techniques can get them the certificate, but we also want to know that they will be confident using the language out in the real world once the exam is over.
Learning built around genuine curiosity, their areas of interest and ideas that matter to them allows them to develop the same exam-ready skills but as a byproduct of engagement rather than the sole focus. The experience is different. And so is what they're left with when the exam is over.
The way we prepare young people isn’t just about whether they pass, but who they become in the process.
